Interning at NE1'S Newcastle Fashion Week

A couple of weeks ago I interned for NE1'S Newcastle Fashion Week. I'd applied months beforehand and had completely forgotten about it until I received an email asking me to come in for an interview. Almost two weeks later, I turned up at the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle (such a gorgeous building) for my first day.

I was given a model to fit for their clothes and had to make sure that they had all their items, they were worn correctly and most importantly, that they fitted. This was so much fun, and meant I was handling some gorgeous clothes! I also met lots of the interns and models that I would be working with throughout the week.

The next day was by far the busiest. I arrived at 7.30am and didn't leave until 10pm that night. There were 3 catwalks that day that Company Magazine and Julien Macdonald were presenting, so it was pretty manic. I worked with the same model that I had the previous day, Louise, and sorted out her running order and dressed her for the shows. Jobs like putting masking tape on the bottom of her shoes were especially hilarious because there were around 50 interns and only about 10 rolls of tape. I think the highlight of that day was chatting to Carlene Thomas-Bailey from Company Magazine. I was such a fan girl and chatted about my love for the magazine and a little about my blog which was such a surreal moment!

I also worked the Clueless screening, a fashion show and then some fashion talks. I actually ended up speaking in one of the fashion talks about blogging. It was really spontaneous and I had no idea until about an hour before, but it was so much fun and so exciting having people ask me questions and wanting to follow my blog!

The whole week gave me some really valuable experience and working with models definitely gave me more thinspiration than ever. I'm loving interning at the moment, and soon will be at GQ for a month which I will be blogging a hell of a lot about! :)

  1. I'm originally from Newcastle and I wanted to apply to work experience at fashion week too but ended up getting a job here in Chester! I actually know one of the girls you're in a photo with. It looks like such an amazing opportunity and I definitely want to volunteer next year!
