Interning with GQ Magazine #1

Blouse - Topshop / Skirt - H&M (it's slightly more orange in real life)

Disclosure: I did not leave the house without shoes on.

When you know you're about to intern for GQ magazine, lot's of potential problems arise in your head; 'what do I wear', 'how will my bank balance survive being in Oxford Circus every day' and of course 'will I be good enough?' (that one should probably come first). But seriously, picking an outfit for my first day took hours. I didn't want my usual black jeans combo, nor did I want to be too suited and booted. This is my only skirt that isn't dressy or suit-y so I settled with this, and considering it took me around four months to find this little number, I was pleased to show it off.

Note: It really did take four months. I spotted it in the Newcastle store around Feb/March and thought it was way too early to be buying an orange skirt. I went home and couldn't stop thinking about it. It consumed my every thought. It's my unwritten rule that if I can forget about something I've seen, it clearly wasn't meant to be. But if I let the item take over my life, pairing it up with different tops and shoes in my head as I'm trying to sleep, I have to have it.
So I went back. No skirt.
I went back the next week. No skirt.
I dragged my friend into that shop every week for two months. No skirt.
I had to forget about it.

Then June 2014 comes around and I take my sister shopping. There it is. Two sizes left; one being mine. It was meant to be.

So here I am at GQ. My hour and a half morning journey has begun. My nerves are in tatters. My wardrobe isn't fashionable enough. But hey, it's awesome.
